A
growing trend in education is homeschooling. The reasons families choose to
homeschool are as varied as the people themselves. Some question whether
individuals should be allowed to educate their children. While I do not believe
homeschooling is for everyone, it makes sense to me that parents have much more
invested in their children’s future than a professional school teacher, no
matter how caring that teacher is.
Homeschooling
is certainly not perfect, but neither is the public school system. Public education
has a one size fits all mentality that fails some students. Children are forced
into categories of age instead of ability, and taught that there is only one
right answer. They receive very little one-on-one attention and may fall behind
the class because they learn differently than the stereotype.
